Nina: Mmm...that was really something. The way those men were chatting like old friends... What could they have been talking about? The mind wanders...
Selena: Hey there, Nina! I was wondering when you'd get home.
Nina: Gah! Mother?! What are you doing here? I thought you were training! You didn't hear me talking about...stuff... Did you?
Selena: Huh? Was I...supposed to?
Nina: Nope! It's nothing! Don't worry about it! Whew...
Selena: Hey, it might cheer you up to know I picked up that pigsty you call a room.
Nina: Mother! That's my private space.
Selena: Yeah, yeah. Those books stuffed into the corner of your closet are on your desk now.
Nina: Oh my gods, oh my gods, oh my gods... PLEASE tell me you didn't open any of those books...
Selena: What are you mumbling about? You can be such a weird kid sometimes.
Nina: My diaries and journals, Mother! Did you read them or didn't you?
Selena: Of course not. But if I did, what would it matter? I'd still be your mom, right?
Nina: What's that supposed to mean? It sounds like you DID read them! Well? Did you or didn't you? ARRRRGH!

Nina: *sigh* Why does it have to be so difficult...
Selena: Yeesh, Nina. Think you're being dramatic enough there?
Nina: Oh...hi, Mother. It's...nothing, I guess.
Selena: Clearly it isn't. What's bothering you? You can tell me.
Nina: Well, I suppose things can't get any worse... I...I have a hard time talking to guys. But I think about them all the time! I feel like such a freak. Like they know that I'm thinking about them... And I just clam up and turn red. It's so awful!
Selena: I don't see the problem. It makes you mysterious and interesting, right?
Nina: Ugh, you don't understand! When I finally manage to stammer a few words out... I start acting super mean and creepy for no reason! I need to change. But I don't know how...
Selena: Even if you don't know how, knowing that you need to already gives you a leg up. Just make a sincere effort and listen to what people are telling you. I can't imagine you won't figure it out at some point.
Nina: You really think so?
Selena: Yeah! You might need to give it some time, but you can change.
Nina: Thanks, Mother. I actually feel a little bit better.
Selena: Although, and this is just a suggestion... It might also help to cut out some of the stuff in those diaries. Because yikes.
Nina: Wait, so you DID read them? AGHHH! I'm going to DIEEEEEE!

Nina: Hey, Mother. Guess what? I talked to a guy today, and it wasn't weird at all!
Selena: Whoa! How did that happen?
Nina: Well, it was pretty basic as far as talking goes. I just gave him directions. But I didn't say anything weird or run away randomly!
Selena: That's a big step for you. Good going!
Nina: Right? I've been giggling about it all afternoon.
Selena: Once you build a little more confidence, you can ditch those old hobbies for good!
Nina: I thought we agreed to never speak of...my hobbies...ever again!
Selena: Whoops, I forgot. What if I called it your, um, training? Yeah...your espionage training. I mean, you did come up with a lot of clever ways to spy on people.
Nina: How many of my diaries did you read, Mother? Jeez!
Selena: I'll be honest—I just flipped through a little bit here and there. The stuff about spying I only know because Avatar told me when he/she was through. Oh! I maybe should have told you I let Avatar read them.
Nina: WHAT?! Why would you do that? WHY?
Selena: It was for a good cause! He/She's going to use them to train the troops. Just think of all the intelligence we can get with your eavesdropping tricks!
Nina: Great. Now everyone knows what a huge freak I am. Thanks, Mother.
Selena: Look on the bright side. You were afraid guys would know about this. And now you know they do! So the worst is over with, right? You're welcome, my dear daughter!
