Velouria: *sniff-sniff* Mmm, that smells just right. Aaaaaahmp... *om nom nom*
Kana(M): V-Velouria?! What are you doing? How could you eat that bread? I watched it fall on the ground!
Velouria: Oh, it's you, Kana. It sure did. I hope it wasn't yours. If so, I'm very sorry. I'd give it back, but it's already in my tummy.
Kana(M): Of course it wasn't my bread. That's not the point! It's bad to eat things you picked up off the ground. You'll make yourself sick that way.
Velouria: What are you talking about? No I won't. I've never gotten sick before, and I do this all the time.
Kana(M): That may be, but you're tempting fate by eating tainted food.
Velouria: It's sweet that you're so concerned, but I have a system down. I can always tell if something is dirty just by looking at it. I should say if it's dirty enough. What's the point in eating something that isn't dusty?
Kana(M): Somehow, I'd forgotten about this aspect of your personality...
Velouria: If it were up to me, all the army meals would be nice and grimy. But you can't have everything, I guess.
Kana(M): Yeesh. I could never eat what you do. Just the thought makes my tummy ache...
Velouria: I have a very sensitive nose. I always know when something is too nasty to eat. It's really not a problem. You don't need to worry about me! That's how I knew the bread was totally fine for me to eat.
Kana(M): You sound confident in what you say, but I still can't believe it.
Velouria: Well if that's true, why don't you go scavenging with me sometime? Normally I'm not that fond of strangers... But maybe we'd have fun together.
Kana(M): Whaat?! Are you serious? Hmm... I am concerned about your, umm, unique eating habits. OK, sure. Why not? I'll join you on your next scavenging trip.
Velouria: Excellent. I'll come fetch you soon then.

Velouria: Are you ready to go scavenging, Kana? You must be so excited, right?
Kana(M): Yeah, I guess so. I'm going to pay very close attention to everything you pick up.
Velouria: That's fine. Look over there. Generally lots of fruit gets dropped down on this road here.
Kana(M): Wow, you're right! We've already found a treasure trove. Relatively speaking at least.
Velouria: *sniff-sniff* This fruit just fell recently. It clearly hasn't been on the ground long.
Kana(M): How can you tell again, exactly? I don't understand...
Velouria: The smell makes it obvious. Personally, I like it when the fruit is a bit more shriveled up and mushy... But beggars can't be choosers! *munch*
Kana(M): AAAHHH! Wait a minute! What are you doing?! Don't eat that!
Velouria: What is it, Kana? Oh, right. I should have let you have a taste too. Sorry for being thoughtless. That's why you're here, after all.
Kana(M): No, you don't get it! I wanted to stop you from eating that! That fruit might not have been moldy, but it was still covered with mud. Can't you at least wash that before you eat it?
Velouria: Ehh, wiping it off is good enough for me. See? *om nom nom...*
Kana(M): I cannot believe that you just bit into that.
Velouria: Erk!
Kana(M): Wh-what's wrong?! Are you OK?
Velouria: Uuurgh! Oww, that hurt.
Kana(M): What hurts? Are you OK?
Velouria: I think there was a twig stuck inside the fruit. I didn't see it... I just cut the inside of my mouth a bit.
Kana(M): Are you sure that you're fine, Velouria? I told you we should have washed it first. If you had done that, then you would have seen the twig, right?
Velouria: I'll admit, that's a fair point.
Kana(M): The most important thing is that we tend to your cut right away. Come on. We should head back.
Velouria: OK, I guess you're right.

Kana(M): There you are, Velouria. How is your cut doing? Did it heal up OK?
Velouria: Oh yes, it's much better today. That was a stupid mistake.
Kana(M): It was just an accident... But I still think it would be smart to stop eating things you pick up from the ground.
Velouria: I thought of a simple solution for this problem already. Here, take a peek.
Kana(M): Hmm? Is that a canteen?
Velouria: Yes. I'll carry water with me while I walk. I also have a knife, so I can wash and peel any yummy-looking fruit that I find. What do you think?
Kana(M): Well, you're clearly committed to foraging.
Velouria: Well of course I am. It would be terrible to waste such delicious food! How could I pass it up?
Kana(M): I understand your point and all, but it still seems like a bad idea. Won't you reconsider?
Velouria: I'm a wolfskin, Kana. This is all perfectly natural to me. I'm just scavenging, like a sensible animal. But the truth is that cleaning my food makes food flavorless to me.
Kana(M): Listen, I'm not going to stop you. But you should let me help you choose which things to eat. That way I can stop you from biting into anything that might be dangerous. Or just really gross.
Velouria: So you want to be my companion, huh? That might be interesting.
Kana(M): What? I just wanted to help keep you safe. And I'm definitely not eating anything we find on the ground!
Velouria: Heehee, I like this idea, Kana. I bet everything will taste better if we're together.
Kana(M): You're really not hearing me at all... But taking a walk together does sound awfully fun. Fine. You're on, Velouria. Let's take a stroll and see what we find.
Velouria: OK... I'll lead the way.

Velouria: Heehee, I've been enjoying all these walks we've been going on lately. I really look forward to them.
Kana(M): Me too. We always end up having the most interesting chats. I have to give you some credit. It's amazing how you can determine if something is rotten just from its smell. Your senses are amazing.
Velouria: Thanks, Kana. You don't have to praise me so much. I'm flattered though...
Kana(M): Have you ever tried working on your cooking skills at all? I was talking to one of the army chefs, and he made a good point. Your talent for knowing if food is still good would be particularly valuable these days. With the scarcity of supplies, they could really use your unique gift.
Velouria: That doesn't interest me. I love my food to be nice and raw!
Kana(M): That's so weird. Everything tastes better when it's been cooked.
Velouria: Hmm, I have an idea. Maybe you can cook for me sometime? I can find all the ingredients, and you can whip something up. Then we can put this cooked food theory of yours to the test.
Kana(M): That's not a bad idea. Umm, Velouria... I have to tell you something.
Velouria: Oh? What is it?
Kana(M): Being around you all the time made me realize something... I think I have a crush on you.
Velouria: Wait, what? Kana, I don't know what to say. This is...surprising. You're like a little brother to me. I really don't want to hurt your feelings. You know that I always enjoy spending time with you, right?
Kana(M): I-I know... I'm sorry, Velouria. Maybe I should have kept that to myself... I've just felt really happy lately, and it's all thanks to you. But I realize that I shouldn't have said anything. I'm sorry.
Velouria: Please, don't apologize. You were just being honest. It was kind of sweet.
Kana(M): R-really? Do you wanna keep hanging out? We could even start making food right now if you wanted to. I'll cook, and you can scrounge up all the ingredients. I bet we'll make a great team!
Velouria: Sure, OK. I guess I'm fine with that.
Kana(M): Great! But can you do me a favor? Please don't bring me a bunch of rotten stuff you found on the ground.
Velouria: Why are you still hung up on that?
Kana(M): Please, don't look at me with your sad eyes, Velouria. I have a compromise. You can pick up food from the ground, but you have to wash it really well. And if it actually looks edible, then I will use it in my recipe. OK?
Velouria: That sounds fair. Leave it to me, Kana. I promise, you won't be disappointed.
Kana(M): I'm counting on you, Velouria!
Velouria: I'm counting on you too. I hope this meal turns out yummy...
