Shigure: How are you today, Mother?
Azura: Oh, I'm fine. What can I do for you, dear?
Shigure: I've been thinking about my childhood a great deal lately... And the times you would visit me during your trips to my Deeprealm.
Azura: I'm so sorry, Shigure... I wish I had been around more often when you were growing up.
Shigure: N-no, I wasn't trying to make you feel bad about that. Do you remember when we used to sing together?
Azura: Certainly. We used to sit side by side and come up with songs for hours and hours.
Shigure: Yes, we did...
Azura: Say... Remember that song we used to sing? It's been so long... Would you like to sing it with me again?
Shigure: Oh... You mean right now?
Azura: Yes, if you feel like it.
Shigure: That sounds wonderful, Mother!
Azura: OK! Do you recall the lyrics?
Shigure: Of course. How could I forget?
Azura: All right, let's give it a shot then. One, two, three... You are the ocean's gray waves ♪
Shigure: Destined to seek life beyond the shore ♪ ...Huh?
Azura: Shigure? Is something wrong?
Shigure: It's strange... I can't seem to hit the right notes. I used to be able to sing this song perfectly. I remember the lyrics and the melody. How can this be?
Azura: That's a part of growing up. Your voice has changed. We used to sing the same... But now that your voice is lower, it isn't possible for you to hit those notes.
Shigure: O-oh... That makes sense. Hmm... I guess there's nothing I can really do. It's a little bit bittersweet.
Azura: I think I have an idea. I need a bit of time to figure this out. Do you mind?
Shigure: No, of course not. What are you going to do?
Azura: You just have to trust me. I think it will make you happy.
Shigure: A-all right, if you say so...

Azura: Shigure, there you are. I've been searching high and low for you.
Shigure: Hello, Mother. Did you run here? You're out of breath. Is everything all right?
Azura: I wanted to give you something.
Shigure: Is this sheet music? It's our old song. The one I couldn't sing the other day.
Azura: That's right.
Shigure: Mother, why did you make this? Now that my voice is different, there's no point in trying to sin— WHAT?!
Azura: You just noticed it? Heehee... I added a new harmony line to the main melody.
Shigure: You also pitched down the melody. It's much lower than before. You rewrote this to fall within my range!
Azura: That was the idea. Would you be willing to try singing with me for a bit?
Shigure: Sure! *hum*...*hum*... Wow, this makes the melody even better. You are the ocean's gray waves ♪
Azura: It's wonderful to hear you practicing again. I'm glad that you're enthusiastic. Your voice may be different, but it's still quite beautiful. Keep at it, and you will continue to improve in no time.
Shigure: Destined to seek life beyond the shore ♪ Thank you, Mother! I'm already looking forward to singing more later!
Azura: Me too!

Shigure: Whew, that was great.
Azura: We made it to the end of the song. I never imagined that we would be able to make music together again.
Shigure: I know what you mean. I honestly think our singing sounds better now than when I was younger.
Azura: You've really matured into quite an impressive young man. At this rate, your singing skills will eclipse mine in no time.
Shigure: That's impossible. We may be singing the same song... But the way you sing has a mysterious power that I don't possess.
Azura: Mysterious power? What do you mean?
Shigure: Your voice has the power to rally allies and stop enemies in their tracks... I could never sing like that.
Azura: Shigure, I don't know about that...
Shigure: Ever since I returned, I've had the same persistent thought. I may be your child, but my songs don't have a fraction of the power that yours do. If only I could be more like you...
Azura: Shigure... I know you can sing like me.
Shigure: What? How is that possible?
Azura: My songs may be powerful... But that's only because of the pendant that my mother gave me long ago.
Shigure: So the pendant is the true source of your strength?
Azura: Indeed. If you were to wear it, perhaps it would have the very same effect. Maybe it would be even more effective.
Shigure: Do you think I could give it a try?
Azura: No, I'm afraid not, dear. Overuse of this power can destroy your body over time.
Shigure: Destroy?! What do you mean? Wait... Can it lead to your death?!
Azura: Well...
Shigure: You've worn that pendant for so long. Why don't you stop? Let me take on that responsibility for you! I can't stand to think of you suffering.
Azura: You are my beloved son, Shigure. I would never dream of saddling you with this burden. I would never give you this pendant. Not now, or ever.
Shigure: Oh, I see...
Azura: I'm terribly sorry, Son. I never planned to speak of this with you. But know that your songs do have power. They have the ability to ease pain and grant peace of mind to anyone in earshot. Sing with pride, Shigure. One day, when this war ends... I plan on throwing this pendant into a lake. It should sink to a place where no one will ever possibly find or use it again. If I should disappear for some reason... Please, get rid of it for me, Shigure.
Shigure: What?!
Azura: You're the only one that I could ever entrust with this important task.
Shigure: Hmm... Very well. You can count on me.
Azura: Thank you so much, dear.
Shigure: I hope it never comes to that. I hate to think of you leaving me here... If you do, my curiosity could get the better of me. I might want to use that pendant...
Azura: Just know that I'll haunt you for the rest of your days if you do.
Shigure: Heehee. I was kidding! I promise, I won't ever harness its power. After all you've done to protect me, I could never betray you.
Azura: I hate to place such a cruel burden on your shoulders. But you are the only one I can trust.
Shigure: It's fine. People don't ask me for help all that often. I'm pleased that you would trust me with such an important task. Would you mind if I asked you for a favor too?
Azura: Certainly. What is it?
Shigure: Could we sing our song again sometime? When you aren't wearing the pendant, of course.
Azura: I swear we will again, someday...
Shigure: Thank you. I'm looking forward to it, Mother.
