Hinata: HYA! HA!
(Hinata leaves)
Avatar: Hello, Hinata.
Hinata: Huh? Oh, Lord Avatar!
Avatar: You seem to be concentrating hard on your training today. I couldn't help but stop and watch.
Hinata: Thanks for the praise, Lord Avatar!
Avatar: I am a little surprised though. I didn't really expect to find you training so intently.
Hinata: What do you mean?
Avatar: Just that...I'd heard a rumor you were more a fan of relaxing than training... So, I admit I may have been biased...
Hinata: Ahaha... I see... I wonder who's spreading rumors about me... I'll just have to work my butt off to prove this rumormonger wrong!
Avatar: Work your butt off? Hopefully not literally... Anyway, is there a reason why you're training so hard?
Hinata: Um... Nope... No...reason... None at all.
Avatar: Hinata, you could not possibly have said that any less convincingly. You couldn't even make eye contact.
Hinata: There isn't! Really! Honest! Oh! Say, since you're here, why don't we have a sparring match? What do ya think?
Avatar: I accept your challenge!
Hinata: Hehe! That's the spirit! Go get your sword and come back here. First one to get a clean hit wins!
Avatar: I look forward to it!

Avatar: *pant* Almost there... Just...five more laps!
Hinata: Lord Avatar... Why are you running circles around the practice grounds?
Avatar: Hi, Hinata! After I lost to you, I decided I needed to work on my fitness.
Hinata: Oh! You mean our match the other day? I wiped the floor with you!
Avatar: Yes you did. I think there are a lot of reasons why, so I decided to address them. For starters, I'm going to improve my stamina by running laps!
Hinata: Ah, I see. So you're actually a pretty hard worker, too. I'm a little surprised.
Avatar: Really? Why?
Hinata: I'd heard that you spent most of your time in your chambers, when you were in Nohr. I guess I didn't think running would appeal to you, is all. But you were pretty agile in our match, and now you're running laps... Kinda funny how different you are than I first thought.
Avatar: Heehee. I'm glad you got a chance to see a different side of me.
Hinata: Me too! Can I join you for a few laps? Watching you has put me in a running mood, too!
Avatar: Oh! Certainly! I don't mind at all.
Hinata: Great! Let's race to see who's faster! Ready, set, go!
(Hinata leaves)
Avatar: Huh? Just a...! Wait! Hinata!!

Avatar: Ya! Ha! Take...that!
Hinata: Huh! You're getting better! I can feel the strength behind your attacks! So...take this! HAA!
Avatar: Gah! Ha! That won't work this time! HAA!
Hinata: What the—?! Waaaah!
Avatar: Did...did I just land a clean hit?
Hinata: ...Yeah. You finally got me.
Avatar: Heehee. That's awesome!
Hinata: Haha... Guess this means we got some talking to do.
Avatar: Oh? Are you actually going to tell me why you're training so hard, then?
Hinata: The reason is...I'm working toward a goal.
Avatar: A goal?
Hinata: Yeah. It's Lord Takumi.
Avatar: My brother? What about him?
Hinata: See, I come from a long line of warriors who have served Hoshido. Even before I learned to walk, I learned to use a katana. I learned quick, too. I thought that being Lord Takumi's retainer would be easy, too, but...
Avatar: But what?
Hinata: One day, he challenged me to a match. The rules were the same as ours. He even selected the katana as our weapon, so we'd be on equal terms. He absolutely destroyed me.
Avatar: You lost that badly?
Hinata: My head was spinning, he beat me so fast. Everyone knows Lord Takumi is skilled with a bow, but he's just as good with a katana. I was so mad at myself for losing and for underestimating him. It was a big hit to my pride. How am I supposed to protect him, if he can beat me? What was I even doing there? So I swore I would become as strong as him. That's what drives me to train.
Avatar: Thanks for sharing your story, Hinata.
Hinata: Someday, I'll be stronger than him, and I'll prove to everyone that I can protect him. Him and everyone else in Hoshido!
Avatar: I'll be cheering you on, Hinata!
Hinata: Heehee, thanks. Coming from you, that gives me a lot of confidence in my work. I hope you'll continue to practice with me.
Avatar: Of course!
