Percy: Mommmm! Is dinner ready yet?

Avatar: Welcome back, Percy. Yes, it's on the table.

Percy: Yay! All right, time to dig in!

Avatar: Hold it right there! Did you wash your hands?

Percy: Er, whoops! I guess not. I'll go do that real quick.

Avatar: Heehee. You don't have to rush. There's plenty of food.

Percy: But I gotta eat fast!

Avatar: Oh? Do you have somewhere to be?

Percy: No, I just gotta get back to training. "Eat fast, train fast"—that's MY motto!

Avatar: That's funny, because I've never heard it before...

Percy: Er, I mean, it's a new motto, OK?

Avatar: Heehee. OK, OK, whatever you say, dear.

Percy: Anyway, I gotta train fast so I can get strong enough to protect you!

Avatar: Oh? That's very sweet of you, dear. But, either way, you need to take your time when you eat, OK? Otherwise you'll get a tummyache. And if that happens, you can't train, right?

Percy: Oh! Yeah, I guess you're right! OK, then I'll eat it all real slow and careful like!

Avatar: Perfect. Now, bon appétit!

Percy: Hey, Mom! I'm back!

Avatar: Percy! Are you OK?! Your knee is bleeding!

Percy: Aw, no need to get all upset about it. I just scraped it a bit.

Avatar: That's terrible! We've got to clean this right away!

Percy: Aw, come on! I'm fine, really.

Avatar: You are NOT fine! What if it festers and we have to cut the whole leg off? Now come here, and I'll wash and put some medicine on it.

Percy: Mom, I TOLD you, I'm OK! You're such a worrywart...

Avatar: Of course I am! I'm your mother after all. Hold still.

Percy: Ouch! Couldn't you be a little more gentle?

Avatar: Oh my. Is this little boo-boo bothering you so much? How are you going to protect me one day if you can't handle this little ouchie?

Percy: Pffft! Whatever! I can handle it! It doesn't hurt at all! Put some more on it!

Avatar: There we go. All better. Now how did this happen anyway?

Percy: I was running down that steep trail on the mountain, and I tripped.

Avatar: Isn't that next to a cliff?! And you got away with just this little scratch? You could have died! I forbid you from ever doing something like that again! Thank the gods you were born so lucky...

Percy: But...but...I have to train, Mom!

Avatar: I know you do, but you don't have to be foolish about it. You can train hard and stay safe at the same time. Trust me. Now, promise me you'll never do something like this again. Promise!

Percy: OK... I'm sorry, Mom. I promise.

Avatar: It's fine. So long as you understand. Now, let's dig in!

Percy: Woohoo! I'm starving!

A Support

Percy: Hey, Mom...

Avatar: Percy? What's the matter?

Percy: I guess it's just...I wonder if I'll ever be strong enough to protect you.

Avatar: Why do you think that?

Percy: Because there are just so many people we've met who are stronger than me. And there are probably people who are even stronger than them out there! People and monsters and stuff on a level I can't even imagine... And when I think about that, I...I don't know what to do.

Avatar: I see. Well, I don't think you have to worry about that. I think, if you try hard enough, you can become stronger than anyone.

Percy: Really? You mean it?

Avatar: Yes, I do. One day, you'll become the strongest person in the whole world. I can just tell. Call it mother's intuition.

Percy: But "one day" isn't good enough! What if a big evil enemy shows up before then?

Avatar: Now that's something you really don't have to worry about. Until you become strong enough, I'll be the one who protects YOU.

Percy: Mom...

Avatar: And then, when you're stronger than everyone else—then you can protect me.

Percy: OK! Sounds good to me, Mom! I'm gonna bust my tail to get to that point, then. I promise!

Avatar: Perfect. And always remember that I'll be here to help you at every step.

Percy: Yahoo! Thank you so much, Mom!
