Volunteering is an activity geared towards raising support points between two characters as well as with Shez. It requires one activity point and can be done repeatedly.

Volunteering has 3 levels of success. The standard merits you 1 renown point as well as the mininmal amount of support points between two characters and Shez. A Great success will net you 2 renown points as well as more points between the 2 chosen characters. A Perfect result will net you 2 renown points, a gift item (usually a favorite from one of the two selected characters), as well as the most amount of support points between the two characters selected.

You can improve your odds of success two different ways. By purchasing the upgrades for the activity by speaking with the Chore Master/Kitchen Master or by selecting characters who like the volunteer work you are selecting. This will be indicated by blue up arrows and if they dislike the activity it will be shown by red down arrows which will lower the odds of success.

Each character can volunteer once. In order to volunteer with the same character again, you'll need to head out to the War Map and conquer a new region (turn it from red to blue) then return to camp in order to select them again. Once there are no more regions to capture in the chapter, you'll be unable to select them again if you have any activity points left.

There are 5 different volunteer activities each with character perferences (like/dislike).

Coming Soon: A chart with character perferences for each of the 5 activites

Tip/advice: A perfect result can take two characters with no support points invested all the way through C rank. After that, two perfect results can help carry you through B rank plus a battle with the said two characters participating. The results of volunteering can be save-scummed so if you are patient, you can farm perfects in a few minutes and in one chapter take two characters up A rank. This is assuming you are S-rank in camp and start off with 8 activity points and want to allocate them towards support grinding.
