Shiro: Hey, Mom. Do you feel like doing something today?

Setsuna: Hm? Why?

Shiro: Well, we didn't get to spend much time together when I was growing up, right? Maybe now we can make up for that with some mom-son bonding time.

Setsuna: Ohhh, that's a nice idea. But I can't really think of anything to do. I really appreciate the sentiment though, dear.

Shiro: How can we bond if you don't want to hang out? I mean, I can't spend time with Dad. He's always preoccupied with the war. I guess you don't see him much either. Has he ever given you a gift or anything? How does he show that he cares?

Setsuna: Shiro, your father's not really like that.

Shiro: Well, I'm not like HIM! I want you to know how special you are, Mom. Come on. Please! Can't you think of something you would like to do?

Setsuna: Heh...heheheh.

Shiro: Wh-why are you laughing at me?!

Setsuna: Because you're such a strange child. Why bother comparing yourself to him? Your father wouldn't like it if he heard you talking this way. All that matters is that I am happy... Your father treats me extremely well.

Shiro: Mom, are you sure? He's never even here to show that he cares.

Setsuna: Your father loves me with all his heart... If you don't believe me, I'll prove it to you.

Shiro: I'm curious to see this so-called proof. I'll hold you to your word, Mom!

Setsuna: Very well. Just be patient.

Setsuna: Ah, Shiro, there you are... I've been looking for you.

Shiro: Hi, Mom. Why are you holding those envelopes?

Setsuna: This is the proof you were asking about the other day.

Shiro: Oh, let me take a guess. Love letters?

Setsuna: Good guess... This is the first one he wrote to me... And this one here is the latest.

Shiro: Wow, I had no idea that Dad was such a prolific writer.

Setsuna: Even I was surprised to receive so many. He expresses his feelings in person when he is here... But he also explores his emotions in these letters. I just love this side of him. Are you surprised?

Shiro: I've always thought Dad was just being stiff and formal. Maybe I've been wrong all along. Tell me, what does he write about?

Setsuna: That's a secret. I don't think he would be very happy with me if I told you...

Shiro: Now I'm even more curious! I suppose knowing how much you two care about each other will have to do.

Setsuna: Good. I'm glad you're satisfied. I hope you know how much we love you.

Shiro: I-I know that! But thanks for saying so.

Setsuna: Heehee...

Shiro: Hey, Mom! Do you have a minute to spare?

Setsuna: Shiro... What is it?

Shiro: Well, after you showed me Dad's letters, I started thinking... I thought maybe I'd try writing out my thoughts and feelings too. What it's like to be your son... You know, that kind of thing.

Setsuna: Really? That's very kind of you, Shiro.

Shiro: Now it just doesn't seem good enough.

Setsuna: Hmm? Why do you say that?

Shiro: It's not very special if I'm just doing the same thing as Dad, right? That's why I've decided to treat you to a fancy meal too!

Setsuna: A fancy meal?

Shiro: Yeah. Anything you want! Well, anything I can find in the forest at least. I can't get started until you tell me what you'd like to eat. Anything sound good?

Setsuna: Hmm. I'm not sure.

Shiro: I guess it would be tough to think of something off the top of your head. Just tell me when you make up your mind.

Setsuna: I will, dear.

Shiro: Yes!! Now I've got a leg up on Dad!

Setsuna: This has nothing to do with winning or losing though.

Shiro: I just know I'd be a failure as your son if I couldn't make you happy.

Setsuna: Your father once said something similar...

Shiro: He did?!

Setsuna: Let me think for a moment. He said that his success as a husband could only be measured in my happiness... Yes, that's what he said. Heehee, you certainly are his son. The apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Shiro: Damn! He always has the upper hand!

Setsuna: Heehee. Oh, Shiro. You're such a devoted boy. I'm so happy to be your mother.
