Nina: Mmm...that was really something. The way those men were chatting like old friends... What could they have been talking about? The mind wanders...

Mozu: Welcome home, Nina!

Nina: Gah! Mother?! What are you doing here? I thought you were training! You didn't hear me talking about...stuff... Did you?

Mozu: Huh? Like what kind of stuff?

Nina: Nothing! Don't worry about it! Whew...

Mozu: Well, I got good news for you. Your room's a lot cleaner, thanks to me!

Nina: Mother! That's my private space.

Mozu: You sure had a bunch of books tucked away under your bed. I left them on your desk so you could figure out what to do with them.

Nina: Oh my gods, oh my gods, oh my gods... PLEASE tell me you didn't open any of those books...

Mozu: Nina, girl, you have to speak up. I've told you a hundred times...

Nina: My diaries and journals, Mother! Did you read them or didn't you?

Mozu: Oh! Nope, sure didn't. And so what if I did? You'd be my sweet little girl one way or the other.

Nina: What's that supposed to mean? It sounds like you DID read them! Well? Did you or didn't you? ARRRRGH!

Nina: *sigh* Why does it have to be so difficult...

Mozu: Land sakes, that's one heck of a sigh you've got there, Nina.

Nina: Oh...hi, Mother. I...I dunno.

Mozu: If something's got you down, sweetie, I'm right here for you.

Nina: Well, I suppose things can't get any worse... I...I have a hard time talking to guys. But I think about them all the time! I feel like such a freak. Like they know that I'm thinking about them... And I just clam up and turn red. It's so awful!

Mozu: Aw, is that all? It's OK to be shy. If you want to try to get past it, that's up to you, but it's nothing to be ashamed of.

Nina: Ugh, you don't understand! When I finally manage to stammer a few words out... I start acting super mean and creepy for no reason! I need to change. But I don't know how...

Mozu: Knowing that you're making folks feel bad is a good place to start. You mean well, sweetie, so you just gotta put that into action. You'll figure out the best way for yourself, so long as you don't forget that.

Nina: You really think so?

Mozu: I surely do. You'll need to be patient, but I think you'll get past it someday.

Nina: Thanks, Mother. I actually feel a little bit better.

Mozu: Happy to help, sweetie! I gotta say, I was worried your problem was about the stuff you wrote in your diary...

Nina: Wait, so you DID read them? AGHHH! I'm going to DIEEEEEE!

Nina: Hey, Mother. Guess what? I talked to a guy today, and it wasn't weird at all!

Mozu: Well, look at you! What'd you two talk about?

Nina: Well, it was pretty basic as far as talking goes. I just gave him directions. But I didn't say anything weird or run away randomly!

Mozu: That's a big step, sweetie! Way to go.

Nina: Right? I've been giggling about it all afternoon.

Mozu: I'm so happy for you, Nina. Pretty soon, you won't even need those crazy old hobbies of yours!

Nina: I thought we agreed to never speak of...my hobbies...ever again!

Mozu: Oh! Whoops, I didn't realize you were still so sensitive about them. They weren't all bad, sweetie!

Nina: How many of my diaries did you read, Mother? Jeez!

Mozu: Not that many. I didn't really understand all that stuff about sneaking around. But I thought Avatar might, and sure enough, he/she said they'd be a big help!

Nina: WHAT?! You showed Avatar? WHY?

Mozu: I was trying to get to know my daughter better, that's all. And hey, it paid off for everyone! Avatar says what you wrote gave them a bunch of ideas for army stuff.

Nina: Great. Now everyone knows what a huge freak I am. Thanks, Mother.

Mozu: Aw, sweetie, I'm sorry if I messed up. Does it help to know I love you anyway? And I always will?

Nina: ...Maybe a little. Thanks, Mother.
