Nina: Mmm...that was really something. The way those men were chatting like old friends... What could they have been talking about? The mind wanders...

Charlotte: Aha! There you are.

Nina: Gah! Mother?! What are you doing here? I thought you were training! You didn't hear me talking about...stuff... Did you?

Charlotte: Hmmmm? Oh, Nina, you know I don't pay much attention to you. Why?

Nina: No reason! Don't worry about it! Whew...

Charlotte: Anyway, I meant to tell you I cleaned up that sty of a room for you.

Nina: Mother! That's my private space.

Charlotte: But what if you had to entertain? There were books heaped all over the place! I did you the favor of stacking them all up in the closet. Out of sight, out of mind!

Nina: Oh my gods, oh my gods, oh my gods... PLEASE tell me you didn't open any of those books...

Charlotte: Weren't you listening? I put in all that work, and not one word of gratitude?

Nina: My diaries and journals, Mother! Did you read them or didn't you?

Charlotte: Oh, relax. I didn't go digging into your diaries. What do you take me for? Besides...even if I did, you're still my kid, warts and all.

Nina: What's that supposed to mean? It sounds like you DID read them! Well? Did you or didn't you? ARRRRGH!

Nina: *sigh* Why does it have to be so difficult...

Charlotte: What's wrong this time, Nina?

Nina: Oh...hi, Mother. I...I dunno.

Charlotte: Don't frown, or you'll get premature wrinkles. Tell me what's wrong instead.

Nina: Well, I suppose that can't make it any worse... I...I have a hard time talking to guys. But I think about them all the time! I feel like such a freak. Like they know that I'm thinking about them... And I just clam up and turn red. It's so awful!

Charlotte: Awww, I'm glad you're thinking about it so early. It's an important subject! But don't be ashamed. Everybody takes a while to perfect their persona.

Nina: Ugh, you don't understand! When I finally manage to stammer a few words out... I start acting super mean and creepy for no reason! I need to change. But I don't know how...

Charlotte: Listen, Nina. As your mother, I guarantee you have nothing to worry about.

Nina: ...Why do you say that?

Charlotte: You already see where you might be going wrong, don't you? Just be mindful of those worries and try to correct for them. It might take time, but eventually you can convince people you care.

Nina: But...I really do care...

Charlotte: Even better! That should make it much easier for you.

Nina: Thanks, Mother. I actually feel a little bit better.

Charlotte: I can't believe any daughter of mine has trouble talking to boys, though... Is this because of those weird fantasies of yours?

Nina: Wait, so you DID read them? AGHHH! I'm going to DIEEEEEE!

Nina: Hey, Mother. Guess what? I talked to a guy today, and it wasn't weird at all!

Charlotte: Oh yeah? This I gotta hear.

Nina: Well, it was pretty basic as far as talking goes. I just gave him directions. But I didn't say anything weird or run away randomly!

Charlotte: Hey, good for you!

Nina: Right? I've been giggling about it all afternoon.

Charlotte: All in all, I'd say you shaped up pretty well, daughter of mine. Putting your weird hobbies aside, I mean.

Nina: I thought we agreed to never speak of...my hobbies...ever again!

Charlotte: Sure, if you want. That doesn't change my point, though.

Nina: How many of my diaries did you read, Mother? Jeez!

Charlotte: Nina... It's perfectly normal to have a side you don't show to just anyone. Besides, Avatar was impressed when I showed them to him/her.

Nina: WHAT?! Why would you do that? WHY?

Charlotte: You worry too much, Nina. Just remember, I love you anyway, just the way you are.

Nina: Great. That will be comforting when everyone knows what a huge freak I am. Thanks, Mother.

Charlotte: So what if you're a freak? Like mother, like daughter, teehee!
