Strategy
To be clear, this mission can only be played every fourth mission on the Together to the End map. That is to say, if you cannot access the mission, play some other Together to the End missions until it becomes available. This requirement disappears once it's been cleared at least once.
There are a lot of Outrealm Fiends here, so a Beastslayer weapon is essential. The Great Knights can be defeated with swords or magic, and the Mages and Validar himself should be handled with a solid physical attacker. In theory, a single character such as Rowan or Lianna can meet all three of those checks, and as such they're good choices, though if you've given Lianna the Topsy-Turvy attribute she'll struggle to damage the Mages and Validar.
There's no reason to immediately press an offense here; hang out around the allied bases to protect them. First, an Outrealm Fiend Ruffian will attack the E Outrealm Fort. A pair of Great Knights will also appear to attack your allied commander, but they'll have to go through you to reach him, so they should just be treated as any other invading enemy. Speaking of Great Knights, your second invading Ruffian is a Great Knight attacking the South Castle, followed shortly by the Mage Ruffian going after the allied base.
A Fortifier Captain will appear in the upper left corner and try to strengthen the E Wastes Fort. Once you've repelled the Ruffians you may as well send one of your units to stop him, but don't leave the base unguarded; the Ruffians may be gone, but other enemy forces will begin advancing on the allied base to capture it the old fashioned way. This coincides with Validar's base opening. A Curate will also appear in the upper right corner of the map. If your unit who defeated the Fortifier Captain is still up there, meet up with him to receive a special HP tonic and the nice feeling that you protected him from harm. Once all side-missions have been cleared, there's little left to do but take forts and advance on Validar.
